IS GAS INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL?

Gas is a set fee of $10/hr based on your rental duration.

WANT A DRIVER FOR YOUR BOAT RENTAL?

We can help connect you with a qualified skipper for your reservation. Upon arrival, you'll be provided with a list of qualified skippers and may choose any skipper on the list. Skippers are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Sunnyside Watersports, and are paid directly by you at $50 per hour.

Do I need a boating license to rent a boat?

No, you do not need a boating license to rent our boats. The driver must be 25+ with a valid ID.

WHAT IS THE SUNNYSIDE WATERSPORTS CANCELLATION POLICY?

We require a 50% deposit at the time of booking.

Cancellations made 72 hours (3 days) or more before your rental receive a full refund
Cancellations within 72 hours forfeit the 50% deposit

Weather Exception: If we cancel due to unsafe conditions, you may choose to reschedule (based on availability) or receive a full refund.

WHAT TIME AND WHERE DO I CHECK-IN ON THE DAY OF MY RENTAL?

Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your rental time with your full group present.

Check in is at our rental shack by the water. If you are facing Sunnyside Restaurant from the street, we are located on the right-hand side down by the dock.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

There is a parking lot across the street from the lake and rental shack. If you choose to park there please leave your keys with the marina office. Street parking is also available on Pineland Street, just south of Sunnyside.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO RENT A BOAT OR JET SKI?

Boats: 25+ to rent/operate

Jet Skis: 18+ to rent/operate. Passengers must be at least 5+.

WHAT ITEMS ARE REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF CHECK-IN?

Please bring a government issued ID and the credit card used for booking. Your full group must be present to check-in.

CAN WE BRING OUR OWN FOOD/DRINKS ON THE BOAT?

Yes, you are welcome to bring coolers, food, drinks, etc. Please dispose of all trash after your rental, not in the boat or lake. Let’s Keep Tahoe Blue!

CAN WE STOP AT A LAKESIDE RESTAURANT FOR LUNCH?

Yes, Sunnyside requires renters to use the lakefront tender services. Tying off to piers or other boats is not permitted.

CAN WE ANCHOR OR BEACH OUR RENTAL BOAT?

For safety reasons, anchors are for emergency use only. Anchoring or beaching rental boats is not permitted.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED ON BOATS?

Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs on our rental boats.

What should I tip my driver?

Tipping is optional but always appreciated! As a general guideline, many guests tip around $75-100 for a half day charter.

Super cool dudes, so kind and knowledgeable, we came in on a whim in the middle of a road trip, a week before season open and they were already open and ready. Got us on the water in minutes! Great location, it was a windy day and the launch area is tucked into a cove so it was easy to get out, the check in process was easy, we rented two kayaks, they gave great advice and answered any questions with ease. The equipment was safe and in good repair. I would definitely rent with them again!! We walked to the Sunnyside restaurant next door after... was also amazing 🔥 Thanks for a great day Sunnyside!

We’ve rented boats from them for several years  - the boats are well maintained, clean, and in good shape!  Their staff are also excellent…. Jack was a fantastic captain, with a wealth of knowledge about the Lake and its history. This cruise gave me a whole new appreciation for Lake Tahoe. The 3 hour tour is the way to go.
